Daein Leather
Daein’ Leather -Fife
Keith Hastie makes a range of leather goods entirely by hand in a small workshop in Dunfermline. No machinery is used in the workshop, where Keith uses traditional leather crafting tools and methods to design, cut, carve and dye the leather.
Sourcing leather from Italy and Brazil, vegetable-tanned leather is treated with entirely natural and organic tannins - a method used to tan leather.for centuries.
Full grain cowhide and goat skin bags, back- packs, belts and wallets are hand dyed in a range of colours and personalised to create a truly ‘one-of’ product. Many items are hand carved with intricate celtic knotwork, flowers, animals or other designs specifically requested by the customer.
Keith has worked with leather most of his adult life, firstly as a hobby , before taking up full- time leather crafting in 2020.
Daein’ Leather goods can be found at several craft markets across the Central Belt and Scottish Borders.
