About Us…

Dunfermline Open Studios is an opportunity for you to speak to artists about their methods and sources of inspiration and perhaps buy or commission directly from them while exploring the historic capital of Scotland. You also get to see inside the interesting spaces in which the artists work!

Dunfermline Open Studios is an annual event usually taking place during the first weekend in June. In 2026, this will be the 6th & 7th.

The event was set up to support and spread the word about professional artists and designer-makers working in the Dunfermline. The aim is to provide interesting and informative days out visiting studios and provide the opportunity to meet and speak to the makers of a wide variety of artwork and perhaps to buy or commission directly from them. It gives visitors a unique insight into the workspaces used by artists and perhaps inspires them to become involved in creative activities themselves and appreciate what goes into the production of the work. All this while exploring Scotland’s historic capital city.

The organisers are Kayleigh Crawford, Rebecca Sarah Black & Caitlin McDade, three creatives who live and work in Dunfermline and are passionate about creating more opportunities for the wonderfull talented artists also living and working in our beautiful city.

Kayleigh is a digital marketer who helps small and medium sized business owners get time back to do what they do best. She does this by helping businesses with their digital presence and takes the pressure off them having to learn new skills on top of everything else that comes along with owning a business.

Rebecca Sarah Black is the modern embroidery artist behind Blackbird & Bloom Embroidery. Rebecca’s studio is in Dunfermline city centre, where you can find her creating kits, patterns and accessories, and teaching workshops.

Caitlin McDade is a life caster and owner of Maroma Castings. Caitlin works from her garden studio close to the city centre, where she welcomes families in to create lasting keepsakes. She captures tiny newborn hands and feet, children’s hands, couple hand holds and dog paws.

Acknowledgements

We couldn’t run this first year of Open Studios without the funding and support from the Carnegie Heritage Trust, Fife Council and Grant Williams at Dunfermline Heritage. A huge thanks much also be given to Hayley Muir at Abbot House, Mary Dewar of MD Designs for our branding, and to Chris Oliva at the Kingsgate Centre.

We also want to thank all of our participating artists for their contribution and help in making Dunfermline Open Studios a reality!
