Barbary Wood
Vicki Anderson is the maker behind Barbary Wood Jewellery Design and is based in Dunfermline where she has lived for 23 years.
She studied Textiles and Surface Decoration at Gray’s School of Art so her approach to jewellery making is from a sense of pattern and colour.
Vicki uses Jesmonite - a more environmentally friendly resin than regular resin or polymer clay. It has a matt, opaque quality - which she layers different colours and textures of the resin, letting each colour dry before moving onto the next. This produces unique patterns inspired by organic shapes like plant fossils and ancient markings in rocks due to weathering and tidal erosion.
The colours she chooses for her work are always earth given tones; from warm ochres to rich indigos.
Vicki has a real interest in sustainable design and cruelty free products, which is central to her work with her Barbary Wood jewellery.
